3 CALADIUM LINDENII ‘MAGNIFICUM’

‘Magnificum’ is exactly the right name for this plant. Because this caladium is exactly that—magnificent! Its arrowhead-shaped leaves and unusual markings make it one of my favorite houseplants.

Caladiums require lots of moisture, so they do tend to be at the high-maintenance end of the plant care spectrum, but they are worth it. When your friends and family set eyes on this beauty, they will be green with envy. Thankfully, a thriving ‘Magnificum’ can push out many new shoots, and division is the best way to share them with all your plant friends.

LIGHT Medium light – bright indirect light. No direct sun.

WATER With lukewarm water, to keep the soil moist but not wet. Never let the soil completely dry out. Mist every few days.

TEMPERATURE 60–80°F/15–26°C during the day, and no lower than 60°F/15°C at night.

SOIL Place in a potting mix that retains moisture.

REPOTTING Repot during spring or summer. Make sure the new pot is at least 2in/5cm larger than the previous pot.

PLANTER Best in a glazed ceramic or plastic container that will retain moisture.
